Overnight Crystals -Part 1

This is what we are getting into today.....http://babbledabbledo.com/science-for-kids-crystal-garden/

Science for Kids: Learn how to grow crystals overnight using Epsom salts.

We will see if this is a pinterest Yay or Nay!!!!!!

We did the first few steps in NO-Time. Taylor was able to do most with little or no assistance....

Materials Needed:

1 cup Epsom Salt
1-3 drops food coloring or liquid water colors
Jar/Bowl to grow crystals into (On the blog, the container looked smallish, so we ended up having to find a bigger container than what I have pictured.... It must be big enough to contain 1 cup epsom salt and 1 cup water; and be deep enough you don't slosh out while stirring) :)
Measuring cup
Microwave
Fork
Freezer/Refrigerator

Prepping Steps:

  1.  Place 1 cup of Epsom Salt into your Jar.
  2. Heat 1 cup of Water in microwave for 45 seconds.
  3. Stir in food coloring into water and dump into Jar with Epsom salt.
  4. Stir for 1-2 minutes, dissolving salt. (There will be some left in the bottom when finished)
  5. Place container in Freezer for 8-10 minutes.
  6. Move jar into Fridge and wait overnight.

For end results, check back tomorrow :)
